More important than anything we can observe now is whether the lab will appropriately prioritize safety at a critical time in the future. OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman have repeatedly had huge integrity issues, and in 2024 most staff working on averting catastrophic risks quit, with several saying OpenAI is not trustworthy.
